BRE LPS1175 Physical attack testing standard

LPS 1175 is a standard developed by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) in the UK, which specifies the performance requirements and testing procedures for intruder-resistant building components, strongpoints, and security enclosures.

LPS 1175 focuses on assessing the resistance of physical security products to unauthorized access attempts, such as forced entry, vandalism, and burglary.

Key aspects of LPS 1175 include:

1. Defining various security performance levels (from SR1 to SR8) based on the tools and time required to breach a security barrier or door, specifying the test methods for evaluating the resistance of products to different types of attacks, and categorising products based on their tested performance levels. The standard covers a wide range of security products, including doors, windows, grilles, barriers, and fencing, providing a comprehensive framework for assessing the security performance of these items.

Compliance with LPS 1175 is important for manufacturers, specifiers, and end-users of security products as it demonstrates that the products have undergone rigorous testing and meet the required standards for intruder resistance.
